Ford F-150 Recall Pittsburgh, PA

Ford truck owners and drivers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania should be aware that Ford is expanding a large scale recall on the Ford F-150 truck. The expanded recall is for a possible short-circuit that could cause airbags to deploy unexpectedly, and involves nearly 1.2 million F-150 pickup trucks and 16,000 Lincoln Mark LT vehicles. You can read the full article from Reuters here.

Though, given the size of the recall, this appears to be a fairly serious defect with Ford's product, Ford is waiting until May to notify F-150 owners of the problem. Why wait when there is an immediate threat to the consumer? Ford will allow F-150 owners to bring their trucks into local dealerships to have the defect repaired at no cost. If you own an F-150 that falls under this recall you would be wise to take your truck in now for repair rather than wait for the formal announcement from Ford.

Ford claims that they are unaware of any lawsuits or injuries that have resulted from the faulty airbag system. I think this is unlikely. Sadly, it is probably only a matter of time until someone is seriously injured by this condition. I say this because our firm has handled a number of defective vehicle cases, specifically air bag deployment cases, and we have seen the devastating impact these defects have on people's lives. Hopefully, Ford corrects this problem soon.
